The Physics Of The Universe Beyond Earth - 1023 Words
Astronomers are the type of scientists who study the physics of the universe beyond Earth. Galileo Galilei is a famous astronomer and is often known as ââ¬Å"the father of modern astronomy.â⬠He created the first telescope with 30x magnification. Nicolaus Copernicus was a famous Polish astronomer who established the concept that the Sun, rather than the Earth, is the center of the solar system and is Earthââ¬â¢s main source of light. His discovery lead to the concept that the Earth and other planets rotate around the Sun. Therefore, because of his discovery, he changed the way people viewed our solar system. Electro-Magnetic Radiation Essay Electromagnetic RadiationElectromagnetic radiation is defined as the emission and transmission of energy in the form of electromagnetic waves (Chang, pp. 246). An electromagnetic wave consists of two waves at perpendicular planes, on representing the electrical field while the other represents the magnetic field. This spectrum is split up into about 81 octaves, much like the octaves of sound, which scientists have categorized in order to depict the usefulness of the different properties. Theoretically electromagnetic waves can be as long as the expansive width of the universe in one wave, to a wavelength the size of a quanta (the smallest amount of energy that can be transmitted). That, however, is at this point in time negligible because we either cannot detect wavelengths so extremely large or infinitesimally small. So generally the spectrum is regarded to be set between 30,000,000 km and .0001 angstroms (1 km is equal to 1 X 10^13 angstroms). The longest and least energetic of the accepted wavelengths are radio waves. Their wavelengths range from 300,000 km to 30 cm and a frequency of 30 kHz to 3,000,000 kHz. The waves are used in the transmission of radio and television signals. AM and FM radio signals fall in the long-wave radio range, while TV signals use the short-wave radio range, somewhere in the 3 m wavelength. Radio waves take up about 30 of the 81 octaves. The next slightly more energetic and shorter wavelength is microwaves. Obviously, most are familiar with microwaves since they are always being used to cook food, but microwaves are also used in radiotelescopes and radar, even the radiation from a neutral hydrogen atom falls in this range. Microwave range extends from wavelengths of 30 cm to .3 cm and frequencies of 1-100 billion cycles per second. This corresponds to 6 1/2 octaves. Then comes the infrared range. Not much UV can get through the ozone layer, but a little does, and our polluting industrial revolution has caused our protective layer to break down allowing more UV radiation in and larger health problems to the world. X-rays, once again, are also well known to the public through their modern medical usage. They are very energetic in nature and extremely harmful to the living bodies, especially in the reproductive sites. They can easily pass through skin and reveal the underlying structure of animals. X-rays have been known to also cause cancer and even mutations. Prolonged exposure leads to radiation poisoning and certain death. Its wavelengths range from 100-.1 angstroms with frequencies of just under 10^17 to 10^20 cycles per second. FUEL is another model used in coaching and mentoring. There are four steps in this model- Frame, Understand, Explore and Lay. First we frame the conversation, then we understand the present situation, find the path for achieving goals and then follow the success plan. Techniques used in coaching and mentoring are effective questioning and feedback. The coachee or mentee may find hard to talk about the weaknesses in front of a stranger so questioning help to identify what mentee need? Feedback helps in improving the skills. Recording Recording the activities of Coaching and Mentoring is very important to demonstrate the goals and how to follow the route towards achieving the goals. It helps in tracking the progress of the client and increases accountability. The responsibility of the coach or mentor is to choose the correct method of record keeping it can be done by the regular practice. It provide the evidence that consideration is provided to the client and how much the client have achieved. Coaching and mentoring develop the life-long learning. Coaching and mentoring activities must be recorded in the computer database involving the details of the client. All the details that are recorded must be signed, dated and written in ink. The information must be objective, relevant and concise. Entries must reflect the coaching and should be updated regularly according to the progress of the client. Example of recording by using the GROW model Goal Goal is to perform excellent on the new software implemented in the job as want to continue the job. Reality Being the in charge of operation department since one year- received rating 4 out of 5. Presently working on the new software and able to take the rating of 3 out of 5. Rating has come down due to not understanding the software properly. Want help in improving the performance and understanding the software properly. Options Work on the software and need time to improve the performance. Can take the help of the person who is able to do the good work on the software. Will 1. Go through the details of the software and try to learn the terms and understand them. 2. Find out different ways to work on the software and make it a life-long learning. 3. Focus on saving the time while working on the software. 2.Basic use of the techniques of Coaching Effective questioning- Asking the wrong question will provide the wrong answer and will not receive what you wanted. For effective communication it is important to ask the right question and can exchange the information. Skills of communication can be improved by asking the right question (Leonard, 2017). For example- If we will receive the proper information then we can help someone properly. Questions can be open ended and closed ended. Open ended question receive long answers and detail of the topic and on the other hand closed ended question provide answers in one word or short answer. Feedback- In many organization employees are not allowed to provide their feedback or rarely they get chance to provide their feedback. Feedback is very important for the improvement and development of the organization. Mentors and coaches are the one who help in providing the necessary feedback. Positive feedback leads to the motivation and increases the productivity of the work done by the employee. Negative feedback analyze the areas that need to be improved and also include suggestions. George And Cecil Calvert George Calvert was a very devout Roman Catholic. He was named Lord of Baltimore. After given this name, he then wnet on to fight religious persecution for Roman Catholics. During this time, he tried to found many religious refuges for Catholics. He had many land charters, but all of them were turned down by the monarchy. George Calvert ended up dying before he could even found this religious refuge. But, his son Cecil was able to help his father. Cecil and his brothers went on an expedition in New England and finally founded a religious refuge. This refuge was named for Queen Mary (Maryland). Although the Catholics had their refuge, they were still being plagued by the Indians. This was thought to be William Claybourne's doing. This little was between the Calverts and Claybourne ended up to the Calvert's advantage. The Calvert's made a treaty and in it they defined all of their land claims. Religion

Romare Bearden essays Romare Bearden is among the greatest artists of his generation. His complex and powerful works represent the places where he lived and worked: the rural North Carolina, the urban area of the northern cities, primarily Pittsburgh and New York's Harlem, and the Caribbean island of St. Martin. Religious subjects and ritual practices, jazz clubs, and literature are dominant themes in his work. Romare Bearden was born September 2, 1912. Bearden's date of birth has been the subject of much debate. Dates have ranged anywhere from 1911 to 1914. However, according to the Register of Deeds in Charlotte, his year of birth has been recorded as 1912. Born in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, Bearden moved as a child to New York City with his parents. Although Bearden left Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, as a small child, he returned often through the mid-1920s to visit his paternal great-grandparents who were property owners in Charlotte. He also traveled to Pittsburgh where he attended his last two years of high school, living from 1927 through 1929 with his maternal grandparents who ran a boardinghouse for steel mill workers from the south. These two cities as well as New York offered Bearden countless motifs that were the basis for much of his art throughout his career. The Bearden home in New York became a meeting place for Harlem Renaissance personalities including writer Langston Hughes, painter Aaron Douglas, and musician Duke Ellington, all of whom certainly would inspire the young artist's imagination. During a career lasting almost half a century Bearden was best known for his revolutionary use of collage. He would produce approximately two thousand works. Bearden graduated in 1935 with a degree in education at New York University. In 1936, Bearden enrolled in night classes at New York's Art Students League where he studied under German Expressionist George Grosz. Grosz reinforced Bearden's interest in art...
