The Physics Of The Universe Beyond Earth - 1023 Words

Astronomers are the type of scientists who study the physics of the universe beyond Earth. Galileo Galilei is a famous astronomer and is often known as â€Å"the father of modern astronomy.† He created the first telescope with 30x magnification. Nicolaus Copernicus was a famous Polish astronomer who established the concept that the Sun, rather than the Earth, is the center of the solar system and is Earth’s main source of light. His discovery lead to the concept that the Earth and other planets rotate around the Sun. Therefore, because of his discovery, he changed the way people viewed our solar system. Why are scientists interested in the possibility of life beyond Earth? The discovery of life of any kind beyond Earth would forever change our perspective on how we fit into the universe as a whole, and would teach us much more about life here on Earth. 2. People have long been interested in life beyond Earth. What is different today that makes this possibility seem scientifically reasonable? Today, technology has flourished and is more advanced than it was in the past. We are able toRead MoreLiving On Mars902 Words   |  4 Pagesthink about the Earth what do you think of? The ocean? The grass? The sky? What about all the pollution that humans have put on the Earth? Why do we live on Earth? We as humans are fully capable of going to other planets. Heck, we have done it, but what about beyond those planets, and beyond the entire universe. What is out there? There is a many number of possibilities. Despite his debilitating disease, Hawking would later obtain his Ph. D in cosmology with honors from Cambridge Un iversity in 1962; Hawking was 20 years old. It was years later that Stephen would make one of the most groundbreaking finds that would reshape the very foundation on how the world would view black holes and the universe (off of the findingsRead MoreHow Man Can Invent Life Changing Inventions Essay1688 Words   |  7 Pagesthe biggest questions in physics and everyday life. How did the universe begin? How did everything that we see, smell, feel, or hear come into existence? If there are answers to these questions then more questions arise such as: When did it begin? Where did it begin? Why did it begin? Every person that walked the Earth and lived their small, miniscule lives have looked to the oceans, skies, stars, and planets, and wondered what their purpose and plan was in the grand universe. Through research, studiesRead MoreMy College Major Will Be Astronomy1759 Words   |  8 PagesIntroduction My college major will be astronomy. Astronomy is the study of the universe beyond the Earth, such as the stars, planets, and other celestial objects. Astronomy pushes the limits of our technology, which leads to the development of new instruments and processes processes. Astronomy is considered to be an important because of the â€Å"space age†, where many new developments in technology and new ideas were introduced. Universities were establishedRead MoreA Brief History of Time Summary Essay1371 Words   |  6 PagesTheoretical Physics, a modern topic of science with an extremely deterring sound and famous for being beyond complex, is a subject which cannot be explained with ease. Stephen Hawking, the most famous living scientist today, wrote A Brief History of Time in 1988, updated in 1996, in order to take upon this daunting task of explaining basic theoretical physics to a population who had previously barely studied any science. Within A Brief History of Time, Hawking touches upon seven topics in-depth whileRead MoreThe Mortality Rate Of Humans1575 Words   |  7 Pagesto disappear.
